the laboratory museum of contemporary art              italiano

The purpose of the Laboratory Museum of Contemporary Art at "La Sapienza" University in Rome, is to give the possibility to know, to promote, to protect, and to appreciate the international contemporary art. This effort is turned towards the students and specialists of the field, but even towards the same artists and the general public.
The Museum has been conceived, planned and realized by Simonetta Lux in 1985, according to her precise (but at the same time flexible) theory of research and didactics. Its first objective is to create and affirm the necessity of a real relationship between the artist and the art work.
The Laboratory Museum of Contemporary Art is a dynamical innovative structure both in Italy and in the international scene. As a matter of fact it embodies the weave of activities direct to the contemporary art that usually are considered different or even antagonist
-scientific-artistic and critical activities of research
-high professional training activities
-cultural-creative activities of exposition
-productive activities

The MLAC's activity coordinated by the manager and the curator of the museum Domenico Scudero, is concentrated on two precise spheres: the exposition program and the professional training activities.
The exhibitions' plan proposes both historical artists and new young names, underlining that artistical lines of research denoting more pledge and scientificity. The second sphere is represented by high professional training courses for graduates- the sperimental Stage/Master in critical curating and museum installation - and stages for students and for degrees of first and second level.
The exhibition's activity has become in this way an integral part of the didactics through the meeting and the constructive action between the artists and the young curators of the school master.
The MLAC of "La Sapienza" University in Rome, represents the institution that made possible the synchronism between the new emerging artist of vanguard and the university studies even thanks to the use of new media technology.
