He Disappeared into Complete Silence

Once there was a girl and she loved a man. They had a date next to eight street station of the sixth avenue subway. She had put on her good clothes and a new hat. Somehow he could not come. So the purpose of this picture is to show how beautiful she was. I really mean that she was beautiful.	C'era una volta una ragazza che amava un uomo. I due avevano un appuntamento nei pressi della fermata dell' ottava strada della metropolitana della sesta avenue. Ella indossava i suoi vestiti migliori e un cappellino nuovo. Per qualche motivo lui non poté andare. Così lo scopo di questa immagine è di mostrare quanto lei fosse bella. Penso davvero che fosse bellissima.

Once a man was telling a story, it was a very good story too, and it made him very happy, but he told it so fast that nobody understood it.	Una volta un uomo stava raccontando una storia, si trattava di una storia molto carina e ciò lo rendeva molto contento, ma la raccontò così velocemente che nessuno la capì.
In the mountains of Central France forty years ago, sugar was a rare product. Children got one piece of it at Christmas time. A little girl that I new when she was my mother used to be very fond and very jealous of it. She made a hole in the ground and hid her sugar in, and she always forgot that the heart is damp.	Sulle montagne della Francia Centrale quaranta anni fa, lo zucchero era un prodotto raro. I bambini ne ricevevano una porzione a Natale. Una bimba che conobbi quando fu mia madre lo amava molto e ne era davvero gelosa. Scavava un buco nel terreno e vi nascondeva il suo zucchero, ma dimenticava sempre che la terra è umida.
Once a man was waving to his friend from the elevator. He was laughing so much that he stuck his head out and the ceiling cut it off.	Una volta un uomo stava salutando I suoi amici dall'ascensore. Rideva così tanto che sporse fuori la testa e il soffitto la tagliò via.

Once a man was angry at his wife, he cut her in small pieces, made stew of her. Then he telephoned to his friends and asked them for a cocktail-and-stew party. Then all came and had a good time.	Una volta un uomo era adirato nei confronti di sua moglie, la tagliò a pezzettini, cucinò con essi uno stufato. Poi telefonò ai suoi amici e li invitò ad un cocktail-e-stufato party. Tutti andarono e si divertirono molto.
Once an American man who had been in the army for three years became sick in one year. His middle ear became almost hard. Through the bone of the skull back of the said ear a passage was bored.From then on, he heard the voice of his friend twice, first in a high pitch and then in a low pitch. Later on the middle ear gew completely hard and he became cut off from part of the world.	Una volta un Americano che era stato nell'esercito per tre anni ebbe una malattia ad un orecchio. Il suo orecchio medio divenne quasi sordo. Attraverso le ossa del cranio dietro l'orecchio fu scavato un passaggio. Da allora in poi, egli udiva la voce dei suoi amici due volte, prima con un tono alto, poi con un tono basso. Tempo dopo l'orecchio medio diventò completamente sordo ed egli fu tagliato fuori da parte del mondo.
