Nei giorni 4-5-6 maggio, nella sala superiore del MLAC, si inaugura l'installazione-workshop Baghdad life club progettato da Al Fadhil, artista iracheno residente in Europa. Questo lavoro  una sorta di installazione comunicativa che tende alla divulgazione di informazioni e allo scambio di opinioni sulla realtˆ irachena. L'artista vuole trasformare lo spazio espositivo in un ambiente flessibile simile ad un accampamento dove si viva l'atmosfera irachena e si parli del contenuto degli interventi e del contesto in cui avvengono e sempre con un legame diretto con il passato e il presente dell'Iraq.

Al Fadhil  un artista che opera senza vincoli accademici e di correnti stilistiche; alla 50¡ Biennale di Venezia, si  trasformato in un padiglione mobile indossando una T-shirt con la scritta I'm Iraq Pavilion; molti hanno potuto assaggiare il suo pane arabo cotto nell'Attanour (forno), creato per una mostra curata da Szeemann nel 2003 e un suo video/denuncia  stato proiettato al 56¡ Festival del film di Locarno. Questo suo intervento al MLAC,  una ulteriore tappa operativa di una strategia espositiva che privilegia la ricerca artistica quale mezzo esplorativo e di indagine su un paese ricco di storia e di fascino, ma conteso, quale  l'Iraq.

Lettere, fotografie, libri, riviste, giornali, diapositive, video, disegni, striscioni, tappeti, profumi, cibi e bevande, costituiscono la materia prima dell'installazione-workshop Baghdad Life Club di Al Fadhil. Lo spettatore ne diventa il protagonista assoluto. Dai materiali proposti, vengono proiettati alcuni video girati in Iraq dall'artista romano Fosco Valentini, filmati registrati da tv pubbliche sulle varie guerre, i documentari Sotto il cielo di Baghdad e Fred Wilson & Al Fadhil alla 50¡ Biennale di Venezia, realizzati da Stefano Scialotti, e coprodotto dal MLAC, un documentario del titolo Luglio 2003 del gruppo trx1.org. Questo evento  realizzato in collaborazione con la fabbrica centro culturale Losone Svizzera.

La mostra  realizzata nella programmazione "Laboratorio" del MLAC con il contributo della Regione Lazio per le ricerche in "Applicazione nuove tecnologie multimediali arte contemporanea" nell'ambito dei corsi sperimentali di Stage/Master in Cura Critica e Installazione Museale, voluti dal direttore del Museo Simonetta Lux e realizzati dal curatore del MLAC Domenico Scudero.

From may 4 to 6, 2004, in the high hall of the MLAC will be inaugurate the Baghdad life club installation-workshop. This work is planned by Al Fadhil, who is an Iraqi artist that lives in Europe.
This work is a kind of comunicative installation that aims to the popularization of informations and to an exchange of opinions about the iraqi's reality. The artist wants to make the room of the exhibition a kind of flexible room similar to an encampment where the iraqi's atmospheare is lived, also talking about the the context in which the interventions are maden always with a strong link with the past and the present of Iraq.

The peculiarity of Al Fadhil's work is that it is free from all academic and stylistic ties. He partecipated to the 50? Biennale di Venezia and in that occasion he made himself a kind of movable pavilion wearing a T-shirt on wich was written I'm Iraq Pavilion. A lot of people had the possibility to taste his arabic bread cooked in the Attanour, created for an exhibition curated by Szeemann in 2003 and his video/report has been projected to the 56?Locarno Film Festival. The intervention to MLAC is a further step forward for a strategy of exhibition that favours the artistic research and makes of it the priviledged way of exploration and investigation. An investigation that is interested to a country like Iraq that is as rich of charme and history as contented.

Letters, photos, books, reviews, papers, slides, videos, drawings, banners, carpets, parfumes, food, and drinks are the raw materials of Al Fadhil's installation-workshop Baghdag Life Club. The spectator becomes the absolute protagonist of his artistic project. It will be projected some videos shooted in Iraq by Fosco Valentini, short films about the war recorded by public televisions, the documentaries Sotto il cielo di Baghdag e Fred Wilson & Al Fadhil alla 50¼ Biennale di Venezia, realized by Stefano Scialotti and cooproduced with the MLAC, a documentary titled Luglio 2003 of trx1.org group. This event is realized with the collaboration of the Cultural Centre Factory in Losone Switzerland.

The exhibition is realized according the "Laboratorio" program of MLAC with the contribution of the region of Lazio for the research in "New multimedial technology application in the contemporary art" and according to the MLAC program of experimental courses of Stage/Master in Critical Curating and Museum Installation, given by the director of the museum Simonetta Lux and realized by the MLAC's curator, Domenico Scudero.
